Kice Bearing & Seal Upgrade

Kice Bearing & Seal Upgrade

For those who are running Kice VJ series airlocks, Rotary Airlock offers a value-added service that improves the life and maintenance of the bearings & seals. Input from the flour milling industry primarily propelled this modification. The feedback we were getting was that the bearings & seals would often fail long before the rest of the airlock would wear out. To change these components required shutting down the line, and the user to pulling the endcaps off the housing to access the bearings & seals from the inside. The modifications done to the endcaps allow for the mechanical seals to now be used with grease, and utilizes an ER-style bearing that can be greased. A purge hole is also installed to allow grease to escape from behind the bearing. Here are the benefits to this type of modification: = Longer run time: Bearings now able to be greased to purge contaminants. Even when the product eventually contaminates the seal, the bearing can still be purged for continued run times. = Shorter down time: Bearings and seals can now be changed from the outside of endcap. No need to have the endcaps removed to access them from the back side. I've asked a few customers about the ease of changing out the bearings and seals from the outside. So far I haven't found one who has had to do this! They said they just continue to keep the airlock on their grease schedule, which keeps the bearing from failing. If premature bearing & seal failure is plaguing your VJ series Kice airlocks, this solution may just be the ticket to savings realized in production and maintenance.
